Since graduating from Clark University, Cheryl Hamilton has enjoyed an exciting career in the field of immigrant integration. She has traveled throughout the country educating communities, non-profit organizations and employers about current integration trends. She began her career in the refugee field in her hometown in Maine during the unprecedented Somali migration that garnered national media attention in 2002. Later she served as Senior Consultant for RefugeeWorks, the national center for Refugee Employment. She currently works as an Assistant Director for the Center for the Prevention of Hate Violence in Portland, Maine. Checkered Floors is Hamilton’s first theatrical script and first solo performance.

JAMES BUNZLI Director and Developer

James Bunzli most recently directed the one-woman show NAKED at Everyman Theatre in Baltimore, Maryland. He has taught, directed and performed in Solo Performance for over ten years. His original solo piece, Time and the Means, was featured at the Minnesota Fringe Festival (2006) and his scholarship on the form has appeared in The Drama Review and Theatre Annual. Jim teaches and directs at Loyola College and lives in Baltimore with his wife Julia and their son Beckett.
