Weaving several social justice issues together from sexual assault to immigrant integration, Checkered Floors is appropriate for a variety of audiences and venues, including theater festivals, national conferences, college campuses and community arts centers. The show can be combined with opening acts, audience dialogues, and/or educational workshops depending on the event. Choose the best program for you.
PERFORMANCE ONLY

Based on a true story, audience members often enjoy asking additional questions about Lewiston’s experience, Hamilton’s story and the art of solo performance. Invite Hamilton back on stage to entertain questions after the performance. 1h 45 mins.
OPENING ACT, PERFORMANCE AND TALK BACK
For a full evening of entertainment, combine Checkered Floors with an opening act, such as musical performance by local refugee artists and/or shorter solo performance by local artist on related subjects. Invite artists back on stage to entertain questions at the end of the evening. 2 hrs 15 mins.
SPECIAL: COLLEGE OR HIGH SCHOOL EVENT
As a national speaker on refugee issues, Cheryl Hamilton is also available to conduct immigrant integration workshops in conjunction with Checkered Floors. Combine an evening of Checkered Floors with her workshop “Everyday Integration: An introduction to refugee work.” during the day for students. During her session, she will introduce students to careers in immigration, as well as challenge people to consider how to improve integration locally. (length varies)
